The New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) has announced that it is disaffiliating from the United American Nurses (UAN), the national union formed by state nurses’ associations in 1999.

NYSNA President Linda O’Brien, RN, said: “We will continue to focus on providing excellent service to our members.”

The New York State Nurses Association and its 35,000 members, is the nation’s oldest and largest state nurses’ association. NYSNA fosters high standards of nursing education, research, and practice; engages in legislative activity; and provides collective bargaining services to registered nurses. Its mission is to advance the profession of nursing and protect the public’s health. You can visit the New York State Nurses Association
